Richard’s
Foodporium is now Franchising!
Richard’s Foodporium™ has been known throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties
for 30 years as Richard’s Whole Foods. In 1979, Richard Downey had a
vision to open up a chain of health food stores that would offer high
quality and affordable natural foods. In 1997 John Rorer and his former
business partners bought the Richards Whole Food chains from Richard
Downey’s wife. In 2005 Rorer decided to buy the chain from his partners
to venture into further markets and embrace the evolving Natural and
Specialty foods genre.
Today,
there are 11 stores in SW Florida, and a warehouse based in Sarasota.
Richard's has been consistently recognized over the years, both locally
and nationally, by winning various awards. These include Vitamin
Retailer Magazines "Chain of the Year" in 2007, and multiple local
awards such as "Best Health Food Store", "Business of the Year", and
"Best Place to find Natural Foods", among others.
Wanting to further set Richard's Whole Foods aside from all other
competition, Rorer began thinking of new sub-titles to the Richard's
name, while still keeping the same mission. After tossing ideas
around for quite a while, he encompassed the word food and emporium
to create a new word in Foodporium™. He defined Foodporium as a
uniquely nostalgic shopping experience that provides a wide variety of
natural and specialty foods at affordable prices, soon to be in
neighborhoods everywhere.
Richard’s Foodporium is now offering franchise opportunities, first
starting in the greater Naples/Ft. Myers, Tampa,
and Orlando
